Launched in 2003, BAG IT developed an essential tool used by newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families, caregivers and medical providers. The BAG IT bag consists of a specially-designed patient navigation binder, reliable publications about coping with diagnosis and treatment and a pre-loaded USB wristband.
Escape to Thrive supports advocates to continue their work effectively – all with the ultimate goal of improving cancer patient education and outreach. No other conference offers this balance of learning and skills complemented by improved well being to embrace the WHOLE advocate – professionally and personally.
The Bag It Bag & notebook was given to me by my breast surgeon when a mammogram found my cancer. When the double mastectomy was done we found 3 cancers. Because it was my second cancer and I have a family history of cancer we opted for additional testing and biopsies.
The Bag It notebook was the best possible item to organize all the doctor’s notes, tests and other medical info. The notebook is extremely well thought out with all the needed tabs included. The doctors were so impressed they have everything that was needed! I still have the notebook and use it 5 years later.
The ESCAPE Leadership Conference offered unparalleled opportunities to network and collaborate with other cancer patient advocates who are leaders in the cancer care community. This unique and innovative wellness setting offered a relaxing integration of self-care, public policy advocacy and political action. The philosophy that cancer care leaders must engage in optimum health and wellness promotion for themselves was a consistent and important message that permeated our learning experience. It was a sincere honor and privilege to attend the conference. I was depleted before the conference and now feel transformed and energized to do this life changing work.
